Inland Hospital Earns National Award for Quality

Date Given: 12/7/2017 12:00:00 AM

For the sixth time, Inland Hospital is being nationally recognized with the Top Rural Hospital award for its achievements in patient safety and quality. Inland is one of only 18 rural hospitals in the country to be named to the prestigious Top Hospital list. The Top Hospital designation is awarded by The Leapfrog Group, an independent hospital watchdog organization, and is widely acknowledged as one of the most competitive honors American hospitals can receive.

“We are humbled by this award,” says John Dalton, President of Inland Hospital. “It is a true testament to the dedication of all Inland staff and providers who keep patients safe and care for them as if they were family. I consider it a privilege to work with the skilled, compassionate people who are Inland.”

“We are proud to recognize Inland Hospital as a 2017 Leapfrog Top Hospital. This demonstrates extraordinary dedication to patients and the local community. The entire staff and board deserve praise for putting quality first and achieving results,” says Leah Binder, president and CEO of Leapfrog.

About Leapfrog Group’s Top Hospital Award
Leapfrog's Top Hospital award recognizes the highest performing hospitals on the annual Leapfrog Hospital Survey. The award is bestowed upon hospitals that have demonstrated to have better systems in place to prevent medication errors, higher quality on maternity care, and safe practices to prevent errors.  Only 108 hospitals in total were awarded nationally across the four categories: Top General, Top Teaching, Top Rural, and Top Children's hospitals.

Achieving an “A” rating in Leapfrog’s bi-annual Hospital Safety Grade program is one requirement for the Top Hospital award. Inland has earned straight A’s in the program since it was established in 2012 and is one of only 59 hospitals in the U.S. with straight A’s. The award criteria are defined in each year’s Top Hospital Methodology.

To qualify for the Top Hospitals distinction, hospitals must submit a Leapfrog Hospital Survey. The selection of Top Hospitals 2017 is based on surveys from nearly 1,900 hospitals. To learn more, visit www.leapfroggroup.org/tophospitals.
