Inland Awarded Tobacco-Free Hospital Award

Inland Hospital has been awarded a Gold Star in the Breathe Easy Coalition’s annual Maine Tobacco-Free Hospital Network awards for the second year in a row! Gold is the highest award given in the program which serves to recognize Maine’s hospitals for the work being done to create and support tobacco-free environments and lifestyles.
 
Kathy Jason, Inland’s Communications Specialist and member of the Inland/Lakewood Total Health team accepted the award for Inland during a recent awards ceremony at the Maine Hospital Association held on September 27, 2017.
 
Thirty Maine hospitals earned the highest Gold level award, two earned Silver, and one earned Bronze. Inland, a member of Eastern Maine Healthcare Systems (EMHS), was one of eight EMHS affiliate members who earned a Gold level award. Congratulations to fellow EMHS affiliate members – Blue Hill Memorial Hospital, Charles A. Dean Memorial Hospital, Eastern Maine Medical Center, Maine Coast Memorial Hospital, Mercy Hospital, Sebasticook Valley Health, and The Aroostook Medical Center!
 
About the Tobacco-Free Hospital Initiative
The Breathe Easy Tobacco-Free Hospital initiative at the MaineHealth Center for Tobacco Independence is dedicated to providing Maine’s hospitals with the information and resources needed to support the adoption, implementation, and ongoing enforcement of 100% smoke and tobacco-free campus policies.
 
The program is funded by Maine Prevention Services. Maine Prevention Services is an initiative through the Maine Center for Disease Control and Prevention working across the state to impact tobacco, substance use, and obesity.
