Governor Paul LePage visited Inland Hospital’s Healing Art Gallery today to support this month’s featured artists, all of whom are veterans. Artists who are part of the American Veteran’s Arts & Crafts Gallery are displaying their talent in Inland’s Gallery through May 31.

“There is some real talent here,” said Governor LePage as veteran, Allen Foley proudly showed him the walls of art, which include paintings, photography, woodworking, and glass art. Foley surprised the Governor when he took one of his framed photographs of the rocky coast of Maine off the wall and presented it to him as thanks for his support of Maine veterans.

About 55 veterans with the American Veteran’s Arts & Crafts Gallery display art all over the state of Maine. Their display schedule can be found at www.veteransartsandcrafts.com.

Inland Hospital created its Healing Art Gallery many years ago as a mini respite for patients, families, visitors, and staff - a place to be emotionally inspired and comforted during challenging times – to connect people to art as a healing influence. The Gallery is also a way for Inland to showcase local artists, such as the talented veterans displaying this month.
