1500 health screenings conducted at women’s health event

WW 2010 LogoInland would like to express its sincere thanks to the hundreds of women who attended the 13th annual women’s health fair held at Thomas College on Saturday, April 3.

Inland’s World of Women’s Wellness is the hospital’s biggest community health event of the year offering women, from around the region, free health screenings and wellness information to help them identify health risks and adopt healthier lifestyles.

This year, 400 women attended and participated in more than 1500 health screenings - a 23% increase over the number of screenings from the event in 2009.

Dozens of local organizations and businesses collaborated to offer women of all ages health, mind/body, and stress tips that work! Wellness talks, health screenings, pampering samples, cooking demonstrations, delicious snacks and fun prizes were offered along with educational opportunities to help women learn new ways to improve their health.

Favorite parts of the event the attendees noted on event evaluations included: free health screenings and wellness talks, spa room, information provided by various booths, seeing old friends, and much more!

The attendees expressed their gratitude for the free event with comments such as, “What a great event!”, “Very well done! Lots of great information!”, “Keep up the much needed work!”, and “Love attending this event every year!”

All attendees received a free gift for attending and many prizes were awarded to participants. The grand prize was valued at $300 dollars and included gifts from the Hampton Inn, Agora Hair Gallery and Spa, Waterville Opera House, Cacciatores Italian Steakhouse, Flo’s Greenhouse, and Inland Hospital. The second grand prize included donations from Buen Apetito, Railroad Square Cinema, and Totally Chic Salon and Spa. Other donations were received from Kohl’s, Champion’s Fitness Club, Somerset Sports and Fitness, Sam’s Club, Waterville Florist, Flagship Cinema, as well as from many of the participating exhibitors and spa service providers. Special thanks to the businesses that helped to feed the vendors and volunteers; Papa John’s, Olive Garden, Hannaford, Shaw’s, Pine State Trading Co, Ray Haskell Ford, and Dunkin Donuts.

Mark your calendars: Inland’s next Signature Series event is Men’s Maintenance - scheduled for Wednesday, July 21, 2010 at Inland Hospital located on Kennedy Memorial Drive.
